White House Urban Policy Rep Supports Red Fields to Green Fields

A White House urban policy adviser endorsed the Red Fields to Green Fields concept as a “perfect match” for the administration’s approach to cities and pledged to work with the project’s leaders to convene a meeting with administration officials.

The Olmsted Legacy Screens Nationwide

City Parks Alliance is partnering with our members nationwide to screen The Olmsted Legacy: America’s Urban Parks, a one hour documentary featuring the voices of Kevin Kline and Kerry Washington.

In April 2010, at the White House Conference on America’s Great Outdoors, President Obama established the America’s Great Outdoors Initiative to develop a conservation and recreation agenda worthy of the 21st century and to reconnect Americans with our great outdoors. He has directed the Secretaries of Interior and Agriculture, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency and Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality to lead this effort and to listen and learn from people all over the country. These listening sessions engage a full range of stakeholders including tribal leaders, farmers and ranchers, sportsmen, community park groups, foresters, business people, educators, state and local governments and recreation and conservation groups.

Hundreds of citizens turned out for the first public listening sessions, which took place in Bozeman, Missoula, and Helena, Montana. Additional sessions will be taking place all over the country through the rest of the summer:

Help Save the Land and Water Conservation Fund - Call Your Representatives and Senators Today!

The LWCF State Assistance Program is the only program that provides dollar-for-dollar matching grants to states and local governments specifically for the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation sites and facilities (fields for youth sports, pedestrian trails, parks, wildlife habitats, etc).

Please ask your representatives to defend LWCF while reiterating that the program is a wise investment that provides public access for recreation, bolsters local economies and jobs, conserves working forests, farms and ranches, and protects our waters, wildlife and open spaces.
